Took a trip to North Carolina and back from New Hampshire in my Toyota Prius Prime. I did not attempt to get the best gas mileage - I cranked the A/C and tried to make the trip as short as possible. This should give you an idea of what to expect for fuel economy over long trips in the Toyota Prius Prime.
http://www.autobytel.com/toyota/prius-prime/2017/?id=32972 The Toyota Prius Prime is simply the redesigned Toyota Prius Plugin. This hybrid promises longer EV range and a hybrid MPG range of over 50 miles per gallon. Here are the 10 things you need to know about the Prius Prime: 1) EV Range – In EV mode, the Prius Prime can travel up to 25 miles without using a drop of gas. 2) Charging – The hybrid battery has doubled in size and thanks to a more efficient onboard charger, the Prius Prime only takes 2 hours on a 240-volt charger. 3) Toyota Safety Sense-P Standard – This suite of safety features include pre-collision system and dynamic radar cruise control. 4) Aerodynamics – Active Aerodynamics and design features help cut down on drag. 5) Cargo Capacity – Cargo capacity is just under 20 cu-ft. The larger hybrid battery takes up a bit more space in the hatch area but the seats can be folded. 6) Trim Levels – There are 3 different trims levels ranging in price from $27,100 to $33,100. 7) Multi-Media Display – The 11.6 inch HD multimedia display is the largest Toyota has ever created. 8) Back Seat – The Prius Prime back seat has been redesigned to maximize comfort for the rear passengers. 9) Prius Prime Apps – Your Prius Prime can be scheduled to charge in the middle of the night when rates are lowest. You can change many settings including charging schedule from your smart phone, climate controls, defrosters, and more. 10) JBL Sound System – On a Prius Prime Advanced you can get the most spectacular JBL Sound System. Toyota's Prius was redesigned for 2016, and for 2017 the automaker redesigned the plug-in version, called the Prius Prime. Although the Prime is quirky in the driving department and really out there in the styling department, its fuel economy, electric range and overall green-car mission are admirable; its price is competitive, too. There are a few misses, however, including some powertrain oddness and compromises that needed to be made in backseat and cargo room.
