Speaker: Michael Zimmerman Escalating semiconductor development costs and protracted development cycles have forced Ethernet to evolve at a snail’s pace, creating a one-size-fits-all solution in a cadence of two years. Hence, the migration from 3.2T to 12.8T is a six year-long cycle. Contrary to that, modularity offers mix and match options at the silicon level, disaggregating the capacity from the I/O and accelerating time to deployment. Our first modular solution based on port extender technology will significantly reduce cost and power, while minimizing operational costs. Customers will regain choice and design optimization, and can craft a modular and effective configuration for each port density need.
Speaker: Yaniv Kopelman, Marvell Semicondctor Data Centers are evolving in many directions, and the requirements from the DC networking infrastructure are creating diversification . The Mega Scale Data Centers are desperately looking to increase the throughput of each switch node with reduced power and one-size-fits-all equipment. Enterprise and Private data centers are fine with lower throughput switches and require a more optimized solution for the smaller network scale. In parallel, new emerging Edge Data Centers, are looking for smaller form factors equipment, high capacity, and very high availability. These sometimes conflicting requirements call for a different view of the network infrastructure building blocks and a fresh approach to development of the IC’s that are in the heart of switches, compute and storage nodes. We’ll examine the different types of DC, and present end to end solutions that addresses the diversified Data Center requirements. We’ll look under the hood of the equipment that comprises DC infrastructure and demonstrate how new building blocks enable system vendors and cloud providers to build a more optimized solution for their unique needs and requirements.
Displayed here is Marvell's broad range of network switch solutions running ARM processors. The first board uses dual-core ARM Cortex-A9. has 24x10Gbps Ethernet ports and two additional 40Gbps ports. Marvell's ARM CPUs come embedded with their security engine that allows for monitoring data activity. We also see their prosumer range meant for professional use, with support for a 10Gigabit port.
