Weather News with J7409 Wednesday Nov 14,2018

Weather News with J7409 Wednesday Nov. 14,2018. A deep upper-level low will move northeastward from the Southern Plains into the Central Appalachians over the next couple of days. As it does so, a surface low is expected to develop in the Tennessee Valley, with another surface low pressure system strengthening and moving along the Eastern Seaboard. Wintry precipitation will begin on Wednesday across parts of the Lower and Middle Mississippi Valley, spreading east and north to the Ohio Valley, Appalachians, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast. Both snow and freezing rain are possible with this system. The heaviest snow on Wednesday is forecast for parts of the lower Ohio Valley under the upper-level low, with 4 to 8 inches of snow currently expected in southern Illinois. More heavy snow is likely for interior portions of the northern Mid-Atlantic and Northeast by Thursday as the Eastern Seaboard surface low strengthens. 4 to 8 inches of snow is forecast there as well, with locally higher amounts. Cities along the I-95 corridor are not expected to receive too much snow. In terms of freezing rain, over a quarter of an inch of accumulated ice is likely, mainly in the Southern to Central Appalachians. Lighter amounts of freezing rain could be seen across much of the Ohio Valley and into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Farther south, heavy rain will be a threat across the Southeast on Wednesday as moisture streams in ahead of the upper-level low. Generally 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected across parts of the Southeast, and a Slight Risk of excessive rainfall/flash flooding is in effect for parts of Georgia and the Carolinas. On Thursday as the surface low moves north, heavy rain is possible across the coastal Mid-Atlantic region, where it will not be cold enough for winter precipitation. Weather News with J7409 Monday Nov 12,2018

Weather News with J7409 Nov. 12,2018. A few severe storms are possible on Monday across the central Gulf Coast, and across the coastal Carolinas Monday night. A low pressure system will move along the Central Gulf Coast today, with another low forming Monday night along the Eastern Seaboard. The developing lows and associated fronts will lead to heavy rainfall of 2 to 3 inches for the Southeast and Carolinas today. A Slight Risk of excessive rainfall/flash flooding is in place for the Southeast and southern Mid-Atlantic region for Monday morning until Tuesday morning. Additionally, the Storm Prediction Center is forecasting severe thunderstorms along the Central Gulf Coast, where the warm front is inland so there is more instability. Rain will spread farther north into the Mid-Atlantic and coastal Northeast on Monday night as the low moves north, with over an inch of rain possible. A cold front located from the Upper Great Lakes region through the Middle Mississippi Valley and Southern Plains is forecast to push eastward through the beginning of the workweek. Behind the cold front, snow is possible. 1 to 4 inches of snow is expected for parts of the Southern Plains into the Middle Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley on Monday. Widespread Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and northern Arkansas. Freezing rain is also possible in some areas, but accumulations should remain light. Lake enhancement along with this system will lead to snow of 2 to 4 inches in the Great Lakes region as well on Monday. As the jet stream strengthens on Tuesday, snow forecasts expected to increase to 4 to 6 additional inches in parts of the Great Lakes region. Northern Maine is expecting heavy snow of 6 to 10 inches on Tuesday, on the backside of the low pressure system forming along the Eastern Seaboard. A vigorous tropical wave located about 200 miles east of the Leeward Islands is producing a large area of disturbed weather over much of the western tropical Atlantic Ocean. Shower and thunderstorm activity has increased and become a little more concentrated this morning, and environmental conditions are forecast to gradually become more conducive for the development of a tropical depression or a tropical storm during the next day or so. The disturbance is forecast to move westward to west-northwestward for the next few days, passing near or north of the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, and the southeastern Bahamas. Interests in these areas should closely monitor the progress of this system. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...90 percent. Weather News with J7409 Nov 13,2018 Severe Weather, Rain,Ice,and Snow And Possible Tornadoes

Weather News with J7409 Nov.13,2018. Severe Weather,Rain,Ice and Snow and Possible Tornadoes today. A developing low pressure system will move along the Eastern Seaboard today, leading to widespread precipitation. Rain is expected across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and coastal Northeast today, while the interior Northeast will be cold enough to get snow. Rainfall totals will be around an inch in coastal New England, and snowfall totals could be high in northern New England, with 6 to 8 inches forecast. A cold front sweeping through the Great Lakes and a strengthening jet stream will lead to lake enhanced snow as well. Snowfall totals could be 6 to 10 inches downwind of the lakes. A strong upper-level low will take shape across the Southern Plains on Wednesday and move into the Tennessee Valley. As it does so, a surface low will develop in the Southeast Wednesday evening and move into the Tennessee Valley by Thursday morning, and yet another surface low pressure system will begin to strengthen along the South Carolina coast. All this will lead to another precipitation event for the eastern U.S. This time, snow is possible centered over the bootheel of Missouri, with 2 to 6 inches forecast. Another concern with this event will be freezing rain--accumulating freezing rain is possible from the Middle Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley, but is expected to have the highest totals over the Southern and Central Appalachians through Thursday morning, with over a quarter of an inch of ice currently forecast there. Stay tuned for forecast updates, as winter weather forecasts can change up until (and throughout) the event. Farther south, heavy rain is possible across the Southeast, and a Slight Risk of flash flooding is in place for parts of the Southeast. Scattered thunderstorms will continue in Florida on both Tuesday and Wednesday as a front lingers there. My Tornado watch and warning has just gone out at 6:18 am. First Nor'Easter Of The Season On The Way Weather News with J7409

First Nor'Easter Of The Season On The Way Weather News with J7409

First Nor'Easter Of The Season On The Way. Weather News with J7409. Showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected across portions of the Southeast through tonight, with very limited severe risk possible with a stronger storm or two near the coast.. The greatest likelihood for a couple of sustained/rotating storms appears likely to remain over the northern Gulf. Given the presence of the low and quality of the northern Gulf boundary layer moisture, threat appears sufficient to warrant introduction of 2% tornado probability – with potential spreading eastward from Louisiana early, to portions of the coastal Florida Panhandle later in the period and into the overnight hours. Showers and thunderstorms are gradually becoming better organized in association with a broad area of low pressure located over the central tropical Atlantic about 950 miles east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands. This low is expected to move northward over the next couple of days into an area where upper-level winds are forecast to be conducive for further development, and a tropical or subtropical storm is likely to form on Friday or Saturday. After that time, the system is forecast to turn westward well to the north or northeast of the Lesser Antilles through early next week. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent. With the synoptic pattern continues to favor an upper-level trough over the eastern U.S., the stage is set for the first nor'easter of the season to develop along the East Coast by Saturday. The frontal wave that has been nearly stationary off the Texas coast for the past few days is being energized by upper-level moisture originated from former Hurricane Willa as well as a modest upper-level trough moving into the central/southern Plains. Under this synoptic setup, the frontal wave will adopt a steady eastward motion along the Gulf Coast through Friday while gradually expanding in size. Showers and thunderstorms will be widespread across the lower Mississippi Valley today, moving into much of the southern U.S. on Friday ahead of the low pressure center together with increasing northeasterly winds. By Friday night, much of the Mid-Atlantic into the Appalachians will see rain, which could become heavy at times overnight as the low pressure system begins to intensify more rapidly near the Mid-Atlantic coast. Coastal sections from the Mid-Atlantic into southern New England will likely see the strongest winds Friday night into Saturday morning with weather conditions typical of a nor'easter. Conditions should be much calmer in the interior sections but expect a general area of rain to spread eastward from the Plains States today into the Ohio Valley on Friday. On the other hand, interior New England should see wintry precipitation develop Saturday morning as the low pressure system approaches from the south. Tropical Update with J7409 Kirk is Born

Tropical Update with J7409 Kirk is Born

Tropical Update with J7409 Kirk is Born. watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_Q5rEx3dQ4 REMEMBER This Can Change........ 1. Shower and thunderstorm activity continues to become better organized near the center of a low pressure system located about 500 miles south of the southern Cabo Verde Islands, and a tropical depression appears to be forming. If these trends continue, advisories will be initiated on this system later today while the low moves westward at about 20 mph. * Formation chance through 48 hours...high...80 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent. 2. A broad area of low pressure located about 200 miles south of Bermuda is producing only minimal shower activity. Strong upper- level winds are expected to diminish by Sunday or Monday, which could allow for some slow development of this system while it moves westward and then northwestward over the southwestern Atlantic Ocean. By the middle of next week, upper-level winds are likely to strengthen again, which would limit additional development as the system moves closer to the southeastern coast of the United States. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...30 percent. 3. Satellite imagery indicates that a non-tropical low pressure system is forming along a frontal boundary about 900 miles west-southwest of the Azores. Conditions are expected to become conducive for the low to acquire subtropical or tropical characteristics, and a subtropical or tropical cyclone is likely to form by early next week while the low meanders over the central Atlantic Ocean. For more information on this system, see High Seas Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...60 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent.
