Outdoor Planter Bench

Outdoor Planter Bench

Build this custom planter bench that adds an interesting twist to any outdoor space. The bench is a basic build. Start with the back frame which is two posts, a cap, and a series of rails. Flip the frame and add the front rails. You'll also add the cable rail where you'll attach the wires used to hold the planters. Build the front frame of the bench by adding the front and back rails to the legs. Join the two frames using the shelf connectors and the seat connectors. Then you can install most of the slats for the bench shelf and the seat leaving these spots open to attach the wire ropes. With the bench built, it's time to install the clever planters. These are actually pieces of duct work I found in the heating and cooling aisle and when you open them up a little and attach these duct caps using machine screws. Either paint or leave them 'natural'. Next, drill the small holes on each end that you'll use to wire the planters onto the bench. The wire ropes that hold the planters are secured at the bottom of the bench, and at the top so start at the top and thread the wires through the eye screws and secure them with these wire clips. Mark the height your first planter will hang at. Put some tension on the wire, and mark the measurement with some tape. Thread the wire through the holes, and shimmy your planter up and into place. Use a couple more of these wire clips to secure them, then repeat the whole process for the remaining two planters. To secure the bottom, you pull the wire right through the openings in the bench, and using the wire clips again, secure it to the eye screws just like you did at the top. That's it! Install the final slats, add plants, and enjoy. Lowes Picnic Table/Bench Build Video (Time Lapse)

Lowes Picnic Table/Bench Build Video (Time Lapse)

Build video of the Lowes pine 6ft Picnic Table/Bench. Very good value @ under $90 bux.(Seems to cost more putting together hardware/wood than the cost of this kit) If you're buying it unassembled as I did....look on the bottom of the packaging, that will be your tables top....so, try and find one with the least knots...etc. Around the 0:40 mark notice I had the brace on the inside of the legs and had to switch it to the outside.(Just a tip to watch out for)

How to Make a Pipe Bench

How to Make a Pipe Bench

Get that great industrial look with this easy to make bench. Get instant industrial style with this super simple bench. Pulled together from pipes and a panel, make this super stylish industrial bench. Industrial's in and this bench is a great way to incorporate it into almost any space. Find project details here: http://low.es/208U5ov Start by creating the base. Clean your pieces up with some mineral spirits before you start, and then you're basically just making two 'H' shapes. Find the exact diagram for the pieces and parts in the detailed directions. This is really simple, you don't need any special tools because the pipes truly just twist together. Once you have the two 'h's' join them with a span of long pipe and that produces a base. You may need to make some little adjustments to make sure it sits level, and then you can leave the pipes 'natural', or give the whole base a coat of spray paint. It's time for the bench. Have Lowe's cut two pieces of MDF to size, and then glue those together. Next, glue a couple of supports lengthwise..and you really can just eyeball this, no special measurements; they're just to make the bench a little sturdier. Use some painters tape to hold the supports in place to dry. The padding for the cushion is plain old carpet pad. Cut four layers to size, and then you want to give those a little trim holding your scissors at a 45-degree angle. That'll create a beveled edge so the seat doesn't look so square and boxy. Stack the layers of padding and the MDF onto some drop cloth -- trim that so that it's about 6-inches larger than the bench. You don't want all this colorful padding to show through your final fabric, so the drop cloth makes a nice sturdy barrier. You want a good taut cover on the bench. Pull one side of the drop cloth into place and staple it. Pull the opposite side into place -- nice and tight, and secure it. Now you can do the two ends and then just work your way down each side, pulling tight and stapling. For neat and tidy corners, it's just like wrapping a present. Pull the middle in and secure it, then fold in one side -- and staple it. Then the other side. See? Nice and neat. If you want to trim off any excess you can, or you can just staple it down. Once the drop cloth is in place, repeat the process with a fabric you like...this is actually a drapery panel from Lowe's -- it's a great inexpensive choice with a lot of style. Put the base onto the bench, and attach it with screws -- and that's it! Smartpond's How to Build a Pond or Water Feature

Smartpond's How to Build a Pond or Water Feature

Smartpond demonstrates how to build a pond or water feature in your home garden. Learn how to add pond liner, lighting, and pond pumps to make a healthy and beautiful water feature. Thinking about building a pond? Do you have a space that needs some attention? Or do you just want a calm and peaceful setting? A pond can do all of that. Choosing a pond is also crucial. For smaller areas a flexible liner or a small potted water feature would be ideal, however if you have a lot of space to work with, building and designing a pond with a water feature could also be beneficial. When choosing a pond, also make sure to choose the right landscaping and plants to set around it. As you begin installation, be sure to map out the area you want your pond to be in. For colder climates be sure to dig at least 2-2.5 feet deep to prevent the fish from freezing. Dig out different level tiers for added rocks and design. Line the hole with under-layment before installing the liner to prevent any damage to the liner. Install the liner and lay down with stone or rock. Incorporate a filter and a pump for healthy pond life. Harbor Freight Workbench with Lighting: Budget Bench Review

Harbor Freight Workbench with Lighting: Budget Bench Review

Review of the 48-inch Harbor Freight Multipurpose Workbench with Light and Multi-Outlet Power Strip. This work bench is Harbor Freight model number 99681 (https://amzn.to/2N6aLhc). Very simple to put together, and if done right, is sturdy, has no wobble, and can hold substantial amount of weight. Harbor Freight Workbench with Lights: https://amzn.to/2N6aLhc Includes light tucked under top of hood, electrical strip built into right side for electrical items, a pegboard back for hanging tools, two drawers, large open shelf along bottom, and a cheaper particle board worktop. I replaced my worktop with a piece of acrylic (glass can also be used) from a local plastics manufacturer. I also use an indoor/outdoor rug (seen in my review videos) for the top of that to prevent scratching when working on something.
